The Library Checkout blog meme was created by Shannon of River City Reading and later hosted by Charleen of It’s a Portable Magic. I took over as the host in October 2017. There’s nothing complicated about this challenge; it’s just a way of celebrating the libraries that you frequent, whether that’s your local public library branch or a specialist library. Maybe keeping track of your borrowing habits will encourage you to visit your local libraries even more. Use ’em or lose ’em, after all.
I know that lots of my readers are dedicated library users. Why not join in? This is always a quick and fun post to put together, it champions library use, and it consistently gets me some of my best engagement. I usually post on the last Monday of the month, unless a holiday interferes, but feel free to post whenever is convenient for you. I’m always delighted to have others participate. Share a link to your own post in the comments of my latest post. (Feel free to use the above image, too.)
The basic categories are: Library Books Read; Currently Reading; Checked Out, To Be Read; On Hold; and Returned Unread. Others I sometimes add are Skimmed Only and Returned Unfinished. I generally add in star ratings and links to reviews of any books I’ve managed to read.
